If you are planning on going for an adventure travel like hiking or trekking for the first time, build your stamina and make sure you are fit enough for such travel.
It will prevent complications and difficulties during the actual travel experience.
A good way to prepare your self is to regularly exercise for at least three months before the adventure. Go for uphill and downhill walking just like the one you may expect during the adventure travel itself.
Don’t forget to get yourself a good walking or trekking boots. There is a real difference between using ordinary shoes and trekking booths. You may not be comfortable wearing trekking boots for first time but after practice you will get used to it.
Practice using it to avoid blisters trying to fit in during the actual journey.
If you are going to carry heavy equipments such as the camping equipments etc, wear your backpack with similar weight items and practice getting use to the weight. You will feel much easier to do it when the time comes.
You may also want to practice sleeping straight on the floor every once awhile to get used to sleep on flat land which you may have to when camping during your travel.
You can also practice sleeping in your sleeping bag at home and get yourself comfortable with it.
Once you are ready and before go on the journey, find out what kind of diseases or illness your may possibly come to experience during your travel and get the proper vaccinations and medicines with you.
The type of medicine you will need to bring depends to where you are going.
If you are going to hike a high mountain, you may have high altitude sickness and as such may have to carry with you high altitude pills like Diamox which will help you during such complications.
On the other hand, if you are going to visit a malaria prone country, you may need to get a relevant vaccination as well as carrying with you a good malaria prevention medicine like Mefloquin or Doxycycline.
It really depends to where you are going. So find out the necessary information and take the necessary medicines with you. You may also want to consider taking along some diarrhea pill like Pepto Bismol tablets or the prescription antibiotic Cipro.
