The Benefit Of Travelling Alone

Some people like to travel in a group while some other people like to travel alone. As for me, I belong to the second group of people. I like to travel alone. Although traveling alone has its dangers, I like to travel alone for the complete freedom I get in traveling alone.

Traveling in a group have never been comfortable for me because I don’t get to do what I want but have to confirm or have consensus with the group’s decision most of the time. This usually happens, when we have to decide where we want to go next or which direction to take when lost.

When I am traveling alone, I have the total freedom to choose and take the direction of where I want to go or what I want to experience and I don’t have to put up with other people’s whines and complains. Although you get the freedom, as I have said earlier, traveling alone comes along with it many dangers.

If you are traveling alone in a suburb of a large city for example, you may come to meet some irresponsible people who may rob your valuables. It can get dangerous if they use weapons to attack you. Or if you are trekking a remote terrain alone, and you have injured yourself, getting help can be a problem. So traveling alone does have its dangers.

Yet, such dangers should not become a discouragement for it is all part of the thrill of the adventure of traveling alone. I have learned on thing though. If you have planned your travel well, you are unlikely to meet such problems. The most important aspect of traveling alone in a unfamiliar territory is to know what are the dangers as well as the excitements you can expect and prepare yourself fully for it.

With enough of preparations, traveling alone can have a profound impact on your life. Have you ever noticed that it is when you are alone that you always think more on life issues? Such it is when you travel alone. When you travel alone, you tend to reflect more on the meaning of life. Traveling alone also will give you a chance to get to know yourself better.

This kind of reflections or contemplations on life often comes when you are away from the regular people that you meet everyday in your life. You will reevaluate your own values in life which happens when you come to meet and get to know how other people are living their life in their country. This is all possible if you observe the lifestyles of people in the country you are visiting.

There is so much more benefit to travel alone than all these I have mentioned so far. For example, if you love writing. Traveling to some remote but inspiring places like the Himalayan Mountains can motivate you to write that inspirational book you have always wanted to write. You can write about the things you have learned from the folklores from that part of the world, from the mixing and mingling of strangers, or perhaps by eating some unusual meals.

You see how you can gain so much inspiration in life by traveling alone? There are so much of fun and learning that takes place when you travel alone. I am not saying it does not when you travel in a group, but it’s just that, I have always enjoyed life traveling alone. You too can have such great adventures traveling alone. Why not take that journey somewhere alone?
