Probably because there are now too many travel agents and the high competition that exist among them, we can now get great travel deals. But the competition among these travel agents have also brought along with it poor services.

Cheaper travel deals does not mean great travel experience. Meaning, you may get a cheap vacation deal but may end up in a cheap hotels or low quality airline flights. Yet, it does not mean you can’t find a good travel agent with good deals either.

What we need to do is proper research. Personally, finding a reputable and a trustworthy travel agent takes experience. You have to use one to know one. It’s just like the saying; the proof of pudding is in eating it.

A reliable way to find a good travel agent is through reference. If you know someone who travels often, probably he or she knows through personal experience a good travel agent and can recommend one to you.

And yes, of course we don’t have to use a travel agent. We can always do our own research and do everything on our own but using travel agent means, less work for us. Everything will be taken care and we don’t have to worry anything because these travel agents can be held accountable.

Of course we don’t want to hold anyone accountable in anything but it’s about business. The travel agents themselves know that they are accountable for what they offer so they will offer you the best deals unless they want to face problems from you in the future as in going to court etc.

On the other hand, using a travel agent is also good because they can find the cheapest and the best deals for you. This is because they often refer many travelers to airline companies or hotels, and because of this they can get good discounts. Something you may not be able to get if you go direct.

That is why using a travel agent to travel is a good idea. Once you have more travel experiences, you can of course, do everything on your own and in fact, get better deals directly from the airline companies and the hotels.
