Wise Travel Tips

In my previous post I wrote about choosing the best time to travel. Likewise, it is also important to plan your travel. The purpose of planning your travel is to ensure you have the best travel experience without any regrets.

In my talk with people who plan and visit other country, the number one factor they fail to consider before taking the trip is failing to choose the best weather condition of the country. This is important because you don’t want it to rain all throughout your visit where you cannot do any activities.

During one of my travel to Shanghai, China for example, I forgot to find out from my travel agent about the weather condition of the country and because of this I had to spend the entire week in my hotel without doing what I planned to do. Personally it was one of my worst travel experiences.

Luckily, I did get one of the days without rain for a few hours, but I could only take a visit to nearby places. So ensure you travel during the dry season to avoid this type of hassle. Furthermore, some country’s can have flood problems even in their city.

The other thing I learned during my travels is that sometimes, some of the hotels may be doing some sort of renovation work. This will cause unpleasant experience due to the noise and the dusts flying about. When planning your travel, make sure you check the hotel you are going to stay has no such work going on.

Apart from that, travel planning also will help you in being safe. Make sure you are going to visit a safe country. There are popular travel locations which are not that safe in this world. Nepal for example, has problems between the Maoist group and the government. There have been constant fighting going on between these two groups.

You may end up being caught by the Maoist. I have personally met this people during my trekking in remote part of Nepal, but thanks to my nationality and my tour guide they didn’t take me into custody. Check out if you will be exposed to meeting to extremist and put yourself in danger while visiting such country.

Sometimes, they may take your equipments like your video camera but let you go. In this case, make sure you have some type of insurance which can cover your losses while on travel. If you can’t get insurance like that, it should not hold you back from traveling. Just check out the safety warning issued by your government about any country before traveling there.

You should also include checking the country’s health situation as a part of your travel planning. Find out if the country you are going to visit has health related problems such as the bird flu. If you decide to travel to this country, find out what type of vaccination you will require prior to entering the country. If possible get a health insurance that has coverage even if you are overseas.

Other things you will need to check is about the things you will need to enter the country as well as what you can bring into that country. Some country may require visa while other country don’t. To enter, Britain for example, doesn’t require a visa from most of the commonwealth member countries.

On the other hand, if you are living in Europe and your country is a member country of the European Union, you may not have to have a visa or passport to enter other European Union countries. Check out what documents you will need to enter the country through their embassy or consulates.

On bringing things, almost all countries in the world don’t allow bringing hazardous materials to their country. In Malaysia for example, you are not allowed to bring in a knife such as the daggers which you will use while jungle trekking. Some country doesn’t even allow pets to enter. In your travel planning checklist, include this as a must.

All these information can be easily found by visiting the respective embassy of the country you are going to visit or by simply asking your travel agent if you plan to use one. Learn as much as you can about the country you are going to visit and plan your travel wisely in order to have the best travel experience.
